Our nation is reeling from wildfires in the west and multiple devastating hurricanes. No climate scientist would pin all the blame for any one hurricane or any one extreme weather event on climate change, but we do know this: climate change almost certainly made Harvey more devastating. The Gulf of Mexico's waters are at record warmth. And warmer waters and air fuel more powerful and destructive storms. Climate change and related impacts like higher sea levels and warmer oceans almost certainly made Hurricanes Harvey and Irma stronger and more devastating. We need decisive action from our state and federal leaders. Consider signing a letter that will be sent to state and federal official to ask for the advancement of policies that address climate change and better prepare and protect Americans in the future.

On 9/5/17, President Trump rescinded the DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) program. DACA recipients whose DACA expires prior to 3/5/18 only have until 10/5/17 to submit renewal applications. There are approximately 9,500 Dreamers in Illinois who need to renew by this date. Consider donating to a fund that will help Dreamers to alleviate the huge financial barrier it takes to renew DACA.
